About the Central Riverfront Project
The Central Riverfront Project is a partnership between the Department for Infrastructure and Derry City and Strabane District Council and will be designed by their consultants Tetra Tech. It will be funded through the Derry~Londonderry and Strabane Region City Deal.
The £45 million scheme comprises roads realignment, streetscape enhancement and creation of an active travel corridor along Strand Road and Queens Quay as well as the creation of new civic spaces.
This hugely ambitious project seeks to:
• Provide high quality, safe, welcoming and attractive public spaces
• Increase opportunities for active travel (walking, wheeling, and cycling)
• Prioritise public transport
• Promote economic vitality and sustainability
