Rogerstown Estuary CFERM Study – Consultation Event – September 2020

Due to Covid19 restrictions the Council is not in a position to host a traditional face-to-face consultation event for this scheme. Instead six live online consultation events are planned on Friday 11th September and Wednesday 16th September to provide more information on the reports and the proposed coastal defence scheme.

The consultation sessions will include a presentation by RPS consultants on the studies undertaken, the proposed coastal defence scheme and a Question and Answers session. To attend one of these events, please register your interest by email to coast@fingal.ie. Please include your name and preferred date in the email.

Online Community Engagement

Welcome to the first ONLINE community engagement event for the proposed Rogerstown Estuary CFERM plan. The aims of this event are:

  • Outline the steps taken to date to develop each Coastal Flooding Erosion Risk Management plan (CFERMp).
  • Provide details on the Preferred CFERMp to be taken forward
  • Outline the Next Steps and describe what has already been done with the Seabee units
  • Engage with the Community to assist with the development of a Preferred Scheme


Fingal Coastal Liaison Group

The proposals outlined here have been prepared in consultation with the Fingal Coastal Liaison Group. This Group is made up of County Councillors, Council Officials and Community Representatives from relevant coastal areas in Fingal.

Next Steps

  • Analysis of Feedback and Final Assessment of CFERM plans
  • Complete preliminary design work
  • Confirmation of Preferred CFERM plans by Fingal County Council (Late 2020)
  • Undertake Environmental Impact Assessment and Appropriate Assessment (Summer 2021)
  • Prepare IROPI case study and progress through planning (Summer 2021)

We want to understand the views of the local community prior to finalising the design of Coastal Flooding and Erosion Management plans (CFERMp) and undertaking a full environmental assessment so we would welcome any comments you wish to make about the proposal.

The CFERM plans as presented here may be further developed and refined before the final plan is decided upon. The community views form an important part of this process.The Council is seeking feedback from the public on the proposed coastal defence scheme and is particularly interested in the following information:

  • Is there any further information you require in relation to the plans presented?
  • In the context of the plans presented, are there any issues or design ideas that we should explore further?
  • What concerns do you have in relation to the plans presented and do you have any suggestions on how we can address these concerns?

Submissions and Observations can be made in respect of the reports and proposed coastal defence scheme from Thursday 3rd September to Friday 16th October 2020 (inclusive). Submissions/Observations can be made as follows:

Please make your submission by one medium only i.e. in hard copy or online or by E-mail.

Any submission or observation shall state your name, address and where relevant, the body or organisations represented.
